Frequently Asked Questions

  • My office is located at 51 East 25th Street in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. I also offer teletherapy sessions over HIPAA-compliant online video platforms for clients located in New York, New Jersey, and Florida.

  • If meeting over teletherapy, you must be located in one of the states in which I am licensed: New York, New Jersey, or Florida.

  • Following a 15-minute phone consultation, we will schedule a 60-minute intake appointment. Following this, sessions are typically held weekly for 50 minutes each. The length of treatment depends on your needs and goals.

  • If you are considering working with me, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to determine whether my practice may be a good fit for your needs. Please contact me through the contact form on this website, by email at daniel@drdanielmeyerson.com or phone at 212-655-7522. Please note that the contact form is not a secure or encrypted form of communication. Use discretion when including information so that we can best protect your privacy.

  • I accept Aetna insurance plans for clients seen virtually or in-person in NY. Otherwise, I am considered an out-of-network provider with all other insurance companies and for clients located in NJ or FL. Many clients are eligible for some reimbursement for therapy services through out-of-network benefits. Please see Out-of-Network and Fees sections below.

  • I am considered an Out of Network (OON) provider for all insurance providers aside from Aetna for clients in New York. Many clients receive out-of-network benefits from their insurance providers which can often cover a significant portion of treatment costs. If you wish to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company, I will provide you with the necessary documentation (a monthly superbill).

Please check with your insurance provider to inquire about rates and process of reimbursement. I recommend asking the following questions:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits?

    • What are my out-of-network benefits for routine mental health services?

    • What percentage do you cover for out-of-network mental health services?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible? Has it been met?

    • Do I have coverage for individual therapy (codes 90834 and 90837)?

    • Are telehealth therapy services covered?

    • Is there any limitation regarding number of sessions or maximum amount reimbursed per visit or per year?

    • Are there any other requirements in order to receive out of network benefits for these sessions?

  • My fee varies by appointment type. Please contact me directly to discuss.

If you have Aetna and will be using it for coverage, your fee will depend on your copay and deductible. Please visit this page to verify.

  • Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I require at least 24 hours notice. If we are able to reschedule our appointment within the same week, there is no charge. However, please note that if we are unable to reschedule, you are responsible for the cost of your session.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

    • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

    • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
